At times odd and peculiar, North Macedonia is also full of unique beauty and a strong history.
I was pleasantly surprised when visiting the Balkan country. There wasn’t much I knew before heading across the border, but I soon found a place both welcoming and underappreciated.
It’s a country with exotic blue lakes known for their ultra clean waters. A capital city that could rival Las Vegas with its larger than life statues. Cities that embrace both modern and antiquated Europe, and food options for every kind of diet.
You’ll find ancient ruins, funky monuments, and spectacular bazaars.
It has a wildly different feel from the rest of former Yugoslavia, a sort of laid back vibe that will complement your trip through the sometimes harsh region.
